As a fanatic padel player, you naturally want your racket to last as long as possible. But how long does such a racket actually remain in top shape? In this blog we explain which factors influence the lifespan, when you should replace your racket and where you can find a new one.
What determines the lifespan of a padel racket?
1. Quality & material
Carbon rackets generally last longer than fiberglass. Carbon is stronger, lighter and more durable β ideal for those who play often and fanatically.
2. Playing frequency
The more you play, the faster your racket will wear out. Everyday players will usually notice wear within a few months, while recreational players will often use a racket for up to a year.
3. Playing style & level
Do you use a lot of power and smash a lot? Then your racket will have to endure more. Advanced players will have to replace their racket more quickly than recreational players.
4. Weather conditions
Playing in high or low temperatures and outdoors in rain or sunlight can damage the materials. A protective cover helps prevent weather damage.
How do you know when your racket needs replacing?
-
Cracks or dents in the frame
-
Less control or power while playing
-
Worn grip (which you can replace separately)
Do you see structural damage or feel a loss of performance? Then it is time for a new racket.
